About Gun Control Problems

I didn’t know much about gun control problems before I came to America. It seemed too far away from my life. However, the violence with guns was happened frequently here. Even if in my living space, there was a gun killing issue happened last year. To defend themselves, Americans buy guns. On the other hand, this caused much more serious violence.
In Germany, the number of people who were killed under guns every year is 381; in Canada, it is 165. Japan, where the most bloody carton and video games come from, has much fewer gun problems, the number is just 39. But it is amazing that in U.S. 11127 people were killed by guns per year. What a terrible number it is! Some people think American has a piece of bloody history; therefore the recent serious situation happened. But other countries didn’t develop in peace either. Germany set up two times of world war, and killed more than 15 million people only in World War Ⅱ. Just then, Japan invaded China. But now they don’t have much gun control problems. Actually, people can’t buy a gun in any other countries as easily as in America and Canada. You even could buy a gun in supermarket of these two countries without certificate. Now the question is why Canada has much less gun control problems than America.
In my opinion, many reasons about background result in gun control problems in America. American government always considers it as the most powerful in the world, and plays a worldwide policeman. It created innumerable wars all over the world, and punished any country if they want. The citizens of America were influenced by government; some of them like to deal with problems by violence. Furthermore, the gap between rich and poor and racial problems also cause violence. Everyone can have guns, and some individuals feel nothing but anger at this society. So they probably use arms.
Medias in America usually bring negative influence to people. For more profits and viewers’ attentions, they post crimes as soon and much as possible. So Medias took much more fears than the issues really had. In other countries, such as China and Canada, people could see few violence issues on TV.
Above all, gun control problems need to be reduced by governments’ effect. The most developed country should have a harmonious environment to live.

  1. Hi William,

    Thanks for a great post!

You raise lots of important points. I like how you suggest that there may be a parellel between how the government operates and what its citizenry feels is appropriate or just behavior.

I also like how you point out that social frustration is certainly one of the problems that perpetuates gun violence. How do you think that anger could be channeled in other directions, or can it be?

It's true that it's hard to beleive the level of gun violnce in the U.S. With all of our resources, why is violnce still so common?

  2. Thank you for your suggestions. You know, some crazy guys like Bin Laden were not satisfied with society, they desired to create some issues to express their anger. In this time, arms became their best tools. Due to the arms, they seemed more evil.

The violence still exist in U.S., I think because Government continue to earn money by selling guns. Otherwise, people don't like to be deprived any right including gun controlling. The society atmosphere is not very good, people were afraid others.
